Services
My Services
I offer both copyediting and proofreading. Why are these services even necessary?
According to the National Association of Legal Professionals, proofreading is important because mistakes in written work can lead to misunderstandings and changes in meaning or intent. Sloppy copy appearance also reduces the quality of the writing and decreases the reputation of the writer.
I offer both copyediting and proofreading. Types of documents I edit and proofread:
Authors:
● Fiction – Novels, e-books, short stories
● Nonfiction – Biography and memoirs
Academic:
● College essays
● Admission essays
● Postgraduate essays and research papers
● Postgraduate theses
● High school research papers
● Admissions essays
Are you wondering what the differences are between copyediting and proofreading?
Copyediting involves making sure the document is clear, concise, smooth, and understandable. This editing process checks for some of the same mistakes as a proofreader, but also focuses on correcting issues at the core of the writing. Editing will help improve sentence structure, readability, language clarity, and tone of the text.
Examples of proofreading and copyediting:
Original
I tried to be home after school just to visit with these two kids. They were the youngest of seven brothers and sisters, and no father or man was at home. One afternoon I shared with them that the church down street had youth group meeting on Wednesday evenings, and I would be gald to talk to their mother if you are interested in coming. They wanted to know what we did at youth groups. So I shared with them about grandparents of the church bring cookies, cakes, pies and sometimes ice cream for us to eat.

I tried to be home every day after school just to be available to visit with these two kids. They were the youngest of seven brothers and sisters; no dad or positive father-figure was in their home. One afternoon I shared with them that the church down the street had a youth group meeting on Wednesday evenings. I added that I would be glad to talk to their mother if the boys were interested in coming. They wanted to know what we did at youth group meetings. I shared with them that some of the grandparents of the church regularly brought cookies, cakes, pies, and sometimes ice cream for us to eat.
